Work will start tomorrow to remove the beech tree following months of discussion and investigations.
The latest investigation will be tomorrow (Tuesday 26th April) at 7.30am when an ecologist will inspect the tree for nesting birds and bats. During this work it will be necessary to close one lane of Swaffham Road beside the tree. There will be a traffic light system to control traffic through the area.
If either bats or nesting birds are found, there are proceedures which must be followed to protect this wildlife which includes obtaining licences and, in some instances, involving the police. Details on this proceedure can be found here.
Once this has been completed, there will be more information as to when the work can commence, but if all is clear, it will be started shortly afterwards. The full latest action plan can be viewed here.
As more information becomes available throughout the coming days, it will be posted here.
