I don’t know where to start! But I’ll start with this: what an amazing evening it was last night. A true privilege to see the glee and joy on so many small faces.
I truly couldn’t have done this without the incredible support from the Village Hall committee. There are so many people to thank:
Susan for being an amazing partner to me during chief elf duties. We worked so well together making sure every corner of the event was covered.
Nicola for doing such an amazing job bringing my sleigh back to life. Tris built it many years ago for our Christmasses and we had passed it on to The Wrays for them to enjoy for many more Christmasses to come. Thank you Nic for letting me steal it back for the day
Jess and family for staying behind to help us pack up/dismantle. I suspect we would still have been there at midnight without all your help.
Eileen, Julie & Cathy for keeping the treats, booze, hot chocolates and mince pies flowing. And Dave for running back with fresh supplies of mulled wine when we ran out! And for helping with setting the grotto up and the later de-rig.
Tristan, Mike W and Andrew for manning the electrics, party tent and lights. There can never be too many fairy (elf) lights!
Elaine for being the best Mother Christmas I could have wished for.
Ibuprofen and paracetamol for getting me and Cathy back on our feet the day after when my ankles complained and Cathy’s hip staged a protest.
Bar for popping back and forth as many times as she could do so.
Mike C for rushing fresh supplies of aa batteries over when we realised that the 70 batteries I had brought with me just weren’t enough.
Father Christmas for giving up his evening at the busiest time of his year. Father Christmas losing one glove down the toilet during a comfort break was one of the funniest behind-the-scenes moments.
And last, but definitely not least: every single person that turned up. You ALL made it an evening I won’t forget in a very long time. Having it as an outside event made us able to relax a little with restrictions and meant people could mingle more freely.
Thank you Oxborough and Happy Christmas!
