We have recieved a message from Peter Bannister’s son which he has requested be posted on here.
To all those in Oxborough who were friendly with, looked out for or helped Peter Bannister.
My name is Chris Bannister and I am Peter Bannister’s eldest son. Peter used to live at no.34 (The Green).
As you probably know, Dad moved out in the summer after a series of falls. We became very concerned for his safety and he reluctantly agreed to move closer to us. I am conscious that he moved away quite quickly and he did not get the chance to say goodbye or thank you to the village.
It would be a stretch to say he is happy in his new home, he greatly misses Oxborough, but he accepts it was a necessary move and is content in his new surroundings (an assisted living community in Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire).
On behalf of Dad and the whole family, I wanted to express our enormous thanks for the friendship, help and care offered to Dad by so many people in the village. Dad spent close to 20 happy years in Oxborough and loved being part of its community. There are too many people to mention individually but we would like you to know we are very grateful for everything you did for Dad (particularly those who helped with Monty/Paddy, his two faithful labrador companions). Paddy is also in good health (and looking a bit slimmer!)
We all miss Oxborough so we intend to bring Dad back from time to time. In the meantime if you would like to contact Dad his address is: Flat 7, Eaves Court, The Retreat, Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire, HP27 0JQ
Thank you again,
Chris Bannister
